Thismia arachnites Ridley

Described by Ridley (1905), accepted by Jonker (1948), who noted that Thismia javanica and T. arachnites are very close and possibly conspecific. T. javanica occurs in Sumatra and West-Java, T. arachnites in Perak and Pahang of the Malay peninsula. Ridley did not designate a type specimen, and searches for his original material remained unsuccessful. Chantanaorrapint (2018) rediscovered this species from collections done between 1995 and 2010, deposited in herbaria of Bangkok, Aarhus, Kopenhagen, Leiden, Kew, Prince of Songkla University and Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden (both Thailand) and Singapore, provided a augmented description and designated a drawing by Ridley (kept at Kew Gardens) as lectotype.
