Thismia iguassensis (Miers) Warming
Described by Miers (1847a) as Ophiomeris iguassensis, transferred to Thismia by Warming (1901). However, according to Maas et al. (1986) Miers described this species on the basis of only one fruiting specimen and is, hence, insufficiently known. Indeed, Miers (1847b) states:
"Of the latter species (= Ophiomeris iguassensis) I obtained specimens in 1841; but at that time I was unable to comprehend its nature, as it was only in seed after dehiscence, and it was not until I received last year two specimen of the former species (= O. macahensis) preserved in spirits, together with a drawing of the plant in its living state that I was enabled to ascertain its true relation."
We, therefore, do not count Thismia iguassensis in our list.
