Mycoheterotrophic Plants

How many of them are there?

Voyria aurantiaca ssp. monantha J. S. Pringle

After the monograph on Voyria compiled by Maas and Ruyters (1986) there have been very few new discoveries in this genus. Only this subspecies of V. aurantiaca has been described thereafter by Pringle (1995). It differs from the ssp. aurantiaca in solitary flowers and possibly slightly in shape of the corolla lobes. Maas and Maas (1987) already have stated, that the specimen of V. aurantiaca in Ecuador and Peru mostly have only one flower.
