Described by Cheek (2003) from Mount Kupe in Cameroon. With this new genus a new Tribe Kupeaeae was introduced only a little later (Cheek 2003). The Kupeaeae are characterized by dioecy, 4 non-caudal tepals, 4 stamens and an apical style. Moreover, it seems to be exclusively African.
