Mycoheterotrophic Plants

How many of them are there?

Thismia hyalina (Miers) Benth. & Hook.f. ex von Muell.

Firstly described by Miers (1866) as Myostoma hyalinum, transferred to Thismia by von Müller (1891), who excecuted the wish of Bentham & Hooker (1883) expressed there on page 458. However, like in Thismia macahensis (syn. Ophiomeris macahensis), von Müller is not entirely convinced about the transfer. Thismia hyalina is accepted by Maas et al. (1986). It has been collected twice, from the state of Rio de Janeiro and from Loreto/Peru (Maas et al. 1986). Da Silva et al. (2020) record further populations in the states Mato Grosso, Acre and Amazonas in Brazil.
