Voyria truncata (Standley) Standley & Steyermark
First described by Standley (1919) as Leiphaimos truncaus, transferred to Voyria by Standley and Steyermark (1944). Accepted by Maas and Ruyters (1986).
First described by Standley (1919) as Leiphaimos truncaus, transferred to Voyria by Standley and Steyermark (1944). Accepted by Maas and Ruyters (1986).
First described by Grisebach (1845), accepted by Maas and Ruyters (1986).
First description by Bentham (1854) as Voyria spruceanum, ending corrected and accepted by Maas and Ruyters (1986).
First description by Aublet (1775) as one out of two (with V. caerulea) type species for the genus. Accepted by Maas and Ruyters (1986).
First description as Leiphaimos pulcherrima by Standley (1919), transferred to Voyria by Williams (1968), accepted by Maas and Ruyters (1986). This species supposively is the rares of the genus, only known from one location.
First description by Baker (1894), accepted by Raynal (1967) and Maas and Ruyters (1986). Baker (1894) also described V. platypetala, which has been united to V. primuloides by Raynal (1967). This is the onyl african Voyria species!
First description as Leiphaimos pittieri by Standley (1919). Transferred to Voyria by Williams (1968), accepted by Maas and Ruyters (1986). POWO calls this taxon being synonymous to Voyria flavescens, however, they follow two reference of which one (Plant Catalogue of Columbia) does not give any reasoning for the synonymization, the other (Checklist of the plants of the Guianas) even accepts Voyria pittieri as valid (on page 110). Anyhow, the differencens between the two species are striking, including the colour of the corolla being purple-blue to white in V. pittieri vs. yellow in V. flavescens (see Maas and Ruyters 1986).
First description as Voyria parviflora in a new section Voyriella by Miquel (1849), later transferred by Miquel (1851) to the new genus Voyriella. Accepted by Maas and Ruyters (1986). The latter authors united two formerly segregated species, V. parviflora and V. oxycarpha described by Sandwith (1931), due to numerous transitional forms as well as local co-occurrence, and set Voyriella oxycarpha to synonymy.
Fist description as Leiphaimos parasitica by Schlechtendal and Camisso (1831), introduction of the generic synonym Leiphaimos (now Voyria). Transferred to Voyria parasitica in Maas (1981). Accepted by Maas and Ruyters (1986).
First description by Progel (1865), accepted by Maas and Ruyters (1986). Treated as Leiphaimos obconica by Gilg (1895).
